This is a tremendous compilation of information and interviews with experts about how — with increases in technology — “job security is declining and income inequality is increasing.”
Take the trucking industry as an example. Professional truck driver wages have not kept pace with inflation. One source has said that truckers’ wages haven’t increased in 30 years!
We know for a fact that based upon a 1970s era magazine, truckers (as of 2013) were only earning about 26% of what they should have been if their wages had kept pace with inflation.
Yet, within a 24-hour period, professional truck drivers in the USA can legally work up to 14 hours, 11 hours of which may be spent driving.
In other words, they are overworked and underpaid!
The group of hard-working men and women who drive over-the-road have a great deal less free time than many others in the workforce because they are away from home, living and working in their trucks.
