Strong Recommendation Never to Consume Artificial Sweeteners

Toxic-free Tuesday: I got a call from a customer last Friday who said that her legs were hurting her “really bad”. I don’t recall how we got to talking about it but she happened to mention that she uses the “little yellow packets” for sweetening. Aack! It’s an artificial sweetener!

I strongly encouraged her to immediately stop using it. I described to her that none of the artificial sweeteners are good for human consumption. However, consumers have been “conditioned to believe” that products are safe if they are available for sale.

She followed my advice and by the time that I visited with her in person on Monday morning, she was feeling better. Because she had taken 2 actions simultaneously, I couldn’t attribute the lack of artificial sweetener as the sole reason for her improvement.

If you use any artificial (man-made) sweetener, please read the article linked below. I told our customer that I use stevia powder to sweeten my hot tea, but not just “any” stevia. I looked at one package of it at a store yesterday and it has all sorts of additives. Do yourself a favor and look for a description like “organic stevia leaf extract.”
